Come Heller high water … the another day, another shooting edition

February 14, 2018 by Andrew Heller 76 Comments

Come Heller high water …

  • Another day, another slaughter, another copycat victory for Columbine death merchants Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris (who made mass murder popular), and another badge of shame for the NRA, the GOP, and gun cultists.
  • Seriously, do you think there will ever come a day or ever be a slaughter awful enough that we’ll suddenly, as a nation, realize we could have and should have done something decades ago? I think the answer is no. If Columbine didn’t do it, if Sandy Hook didn’t do it, and if the Las Vegas bloodbath didn’t do it, I fail to see what will. By our inaction, mass murder has become normalized. The lonely, crazy, angry and disenfranchised now view killing innocents as legitimate self-expression – a way to exit life’s stage with a bang, literally. A giant middle finger to life.
  • By saying he paid off the porn star, isn’t Trump’s lawyer essentially admitting Trump did it? And if you’re Melania, how do you take that? Do you excuse your husband or do you become the first First Lady in history to divorce the president?
  • I’ve said for a year now what Omarosa said on Big Brother: Celebrity Edition: That Trump is bad but Pence would be worse. Reason: Trump is crazy, and thus gets nothing done. Pence isn’t crazy but he is a zealot. I’ll take a crazy man over a zealot any day of the week.
  • This is twice in two weeks I’ve actually agreed with Omarosa, who is a horrible, horrible person. I’m a bit scared about that.
  • Trump’s military parade would cost between $10 and $30 million. Here’s an idea: How about we forgo the parade and spend $30 million on fixing up the roads or sending kids to college or helping the poor?
  • Nah, that’s crazy.
  • Speaking of the poor, in his budget Trump proposes cutting food stamps in half for 42 million low income families (many of them working), kids and seniors and instead sending them boxes of canned meat, vegetables and fruit selected and approved by the government. He says it’s to save money and improve nutrition but what’s really behind this is the long-standing GOP belief that poor people are spending their food stamps on booze and cigarettes, which isn’t true because the SNAP program doesn’t allow it.
  • Ah, well, who cares? They’re just poor people. If they were any good, they’d just yank on those magical bootstraps Republicans are always yammering about and everything would be hunky-dorey. (Before you ask, it’s an old, old, old expression that means “fine.”)
  • Do I seem a bit angry today? Yeah, probably I do. It’s one of those no-good, crappy news kind of days.
  • OK, let’s end on a better note then. There was a story this week about a notorious poacher who was killed and eaten by the pride of lions he was stalking. To which a Facebook friend wrote: “As a lifelong Michigan resident, I can honestly report this is the only article I can remember reading about a lion victory in the  football post-season.”
  • “Be strong, because things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it never rains forever” – Anonymous.

It’s truly sad when I ask my beautiful and sexy valentine if she heard about the school shooting today and she says no. She asks where it was and there’s really no shock and horror, as apparently it’s completely normal to hear such a thing.

And I hope to God that Robert Mueller finds enough evidence on both tRump AND Pence to indict them both at the same time. While Paul Ryan is a heartless jerk, he’ll be shut down effective 1/1/2019 with a new Democratic majority in the House and Senate

Here is something else: Do you know that the Republicans in the Michigan Legislature want to make English the Official Language of Michigan?

These legislators mostly are a bunch of guys who speak English very poorly. Will they also mandate that we all speak with a certain nasal Michigan accent? Will they make certain common grammar mistakes legally mandatory? For example, will they make the expression, “where at,” a legal requirement, with jail sentences if we only say, “where?”

These twits know very little about language. They just should shirk back. They cannot legislate this.

Some will say schools should not be gun free zones. Some will say school shootings could be prevented if teachers and security guards were armed. Would a handgun have been able to stop an assault weapon? Do we require all teachers to become proficient in use of guns in order to get a teaching license? Or maybe, since most of these mass shooting are done with assault type weapons, should we make it more difficult or impossible to purchase them? Sadly, we’ve glorified death and destruction through movies and video games, making some people detached from reality, and their ability to easily acquire these weapons is frightening.

Decided to wait a couple of days before commenting on the shooting in FL.
Let’s see: the perp had 36 emergency calls to 911 in 6 years, major fights with both the mother and his brother. Perp was expelled from school for violent behavior against other students and staff.
    Meds for ADHD and OCP.
Another thing that pushed him over the edge was how he was treated by some of the other students in his class. They bullied him. No known friends. Other issues with dealing with people. Death of mother a couple of months ago. Says he was listening to voices in his head telling him to murder/kill other people.
Yet liberals/socialists/democrats will blame the gun and NRA for the shooting.
They will go after the innocent and protect the guilty. Is there a good answer? Maybe.
But it is not confiscating all guns or adding more gun laws to the over 20,000 on the books now.
If andrew and the other liberal posters on this site that it will it will not.
If guns are banned then we need to restrict the 1st amendment and regulate the words written by Andrew and the other liberal writers here. Oh wait, they cannot comprehend that if such an event would happen that the government would be all over them if they so much as whimpered against the policies the government would have on the books.

They down play or do not tell the whole story. Especially if it does not fit their profile of how things should be in their opinion.
The perp was not on any watch list. He posted something on a couple of websites about wanting to be a” professional school shooter”. The information on both posts was passed on to the FBI and the FBI dropped the ball. There are 2 different reasons why. One was to a field office that said they did not have enough information to do any thing. The other was to some web site or something and was never passed on to the appropriate field office.
As for the local authorities not putting him on a watch list, you thank the aclu and hippa laws. hippa laws do not allow medical personnel from passing on a patients mental health without the approval of the individual or if a minor a guardian.

Strawman arguments. You and fred and the other liberal/socialists posters on this site will always bring up useless points.

If one of my relatives were murdered I would be upset. However, I would not blame President Trump or the NRA. I would blame you liberal/socialists who spout off about gun control, denying a peaceful law abiding citizen the enshrined right of the 2nd amendment to bear arms.
You state that you have some guns. If someone broke into your house and threatened your family, would you roll over and let them do what they want with your family? Or would you try to figure out how to get one of your guns and defend your family?
To cite what you stated earlier “I am sure you would have a different perspective if someone was murdered close to you”. Would you feel differently? Would you change your opinion? Or would you want all guns taken away.
If you do not want law abiding citizens to have guns, then you need to start by getting rid of your guns. You state that a lot of guns are not needed.
However, like most liberals you believe that such regulations/laws should apply to you.
If it was not for double standards liberals/socialists would not have any standards.

That reporter did not rely on any other reporter to report those facts. I am not sure if he asked for the information or the police released the information themselves. Certainly a lot more sense than passing laws that make it very difficult for a kid with a history of violence, threats and emotional instability to purchase an AR-15, several 30rd Magpul magazines and probably hundreds of rounds of .223 as easily as if he was buying a new Iphone. Actually it was probably easier than buying an Iphone.

Dear Working Dad and Jim III: Instead of sarcastically and smugly attacking everyone who does not agree with you, how about coming up with a suggestion as to how we could deter this violence? Frankly, your system of “More people having more guns with more power” isn’t working. You are so focused on your “Enshrined right of the 2nd Amendment” that you seem to lose sight of the fact that not everyone should have the right to purchase as many guns, with as much power, as they want, and you have also lost sight of the fact that EVERYONE has the right to live, and go about their daily lives and not be in fear of where the next shooter is. Yes, you’re the “Good Guys” and no one should interfere with your rights, but could you possibly be willing to wait through a longer vetting period since you know you are going to be approved? That could possibly be a starting point while a registry of those with mental health issues or those with a history of domestic violence is created.

This murderer is 19 years old. Maybe, his juvenile criminal record was wiped out, after his 18th birthday? So, maybe nothing showed up when he went through the record check for buying the guns??

Here is something that would help: Anybody who wants to buy a gun would need some sort of certificate of firearms competence and safety. The NRA could provide these certificates, after people went through NRA training courses. As far as I know, the NRA already has such classes. And, of course, the US military could provide the certificates, after firearms training for recruits.

These certificates, along with criminal record checks and mental health record checks would be required for any gun purchase.

I hope Andrew doesn’t mind me posting this link here. If you read it, keep in mind this is an American classroom,in the United States, not some third world war ravaged country, and the source of their terror is an American Citizen with a firearm.

There are people in this country who value their guns more than safety in our schools. We can’t reason with them or change their minds. We can make a difference without them if we stay outraged enough and demand change and make it happen. We have the power to do that, so let’s do it. Our kids should not have to live with this.

LEO that I talked to said they knew immediately that there had been drills, because if not, the casualties would have been much higher. This is the reality that we now live with.

    1. Reintroduce God and personal responsibility into the lives of young people from the very start. Teach them the value of life and make them understand their place in a God loving society.
    2. Eliminate so called “gun free zones”. Disarming law abiding citizens just invites murdering bastards to target schools and other such resistance free opportunities.
    3. Have a combination of armed security and also armed teachers at each school.
    4. Track the social media postings of threat makers. Incarcerate them as soon as they make a threat. (Tent City style prisons in southern states – $1/day/prisoner food budget.
    5. Expel threat makers permanently and forever bar them from any school event. GPS ankle devices could help as well.

School shootings drop 99.99% under this plan.

Do you mean “gun free zones” like Las Vegas where many of the patrons were carrying concealed and dozens of armed security personnel were working the event? Or how about the Orlando Night Club shooting, where the armed security guard actually returned fire, but couldn’t stop the shooter?

    3. Have a combination of armed security and also armed teachers at each school.
So you also want an old west style shootout in our schools while our kids are there? I guess you didn’t know walls don’t stop most rounds over .380acp.

    4. Track the social media postings of threat makers. Incarcerate them as soon as they make a threat. (Tent City style prisons in southern states – $1/day/prisoner food budget.
Let’s just hope we catch them before they get their hands on a gun and execute that threat. Chances are they already have the gun and they posted the message from the school’s parking lot.

    5. Expel threat makers permanently and forever bar them from any school event. GPS ankle devices could help as well.
    See number 4.

School shootings drop 99.99% under this plan.
Where are the statistics to support this?

I know I can’t reason with you, and you will never change your mind. I will consider this a teaching moment for those who are still on the fence.

      P.S.
I can’t help but notice in your “5. Expel threat makers permanently and forever bar them from any school event. GPS ankle devices could help as well.” you don’t even think to add “Ban them from ever owning a firearm.” NO. That would be crossing the line.

I suspect those that obsess over my postings are in the “likely shooter” category.

I suspect you don’t have anything to back up what you just said so you came up with this lame response right here. If you don’t want anyone to read and reply to your comments, maybe you will stop commenting?

Are you just somebody from Siberia who learned to write as if you were an American? You work? You are a dad? You used to be in the US Navy? Please tell us more. You are horsefrokkey! Go away, please.

There are tons of examples where good guys with guns thwart shooters. We need more of this.

I am aware of almost all of those stories and they are spread out over a 20 year period. Several of them were against knife wielding intruders, most of them were robbery attempts, or home invasions, Only one of them was an active school shooter where an armed police officer just happened to be in the right place at the right time and the shooter had only a single shotgun. Only one of them was against an AR-15 (the Texas Church Shooting) where the assailant was stopped after fleeing the carnage.

Your links below are just more of the same. Is that really all you have? 11 instances since 1998 against mostly home invasion or robbery attempts by a knife wielding junky? Do you have any more instances of a good guy with a gun stopping a maniac with an AR-15?

it is a two way street fred. If the FBI tracks down Working Dad or if you report me to the above site I will have no problem showing them this web site and giving them whatever info that I have on you.
If it is determined that you have filed a false report you might get visited by the FBI along with Andrew Heller.
If someone was to create a report on you, fred and other commentators on this site, it could get interesting for you. Andrew Heller may not like that type of attention.

LOL – He is a liar. He “reported” no such thing. He just tries to play a hardass on the internet in hopes of shutting down opposing viewpoints.

All of his multiple accounts can go to Hell.

Direct witness statement from one of the students.

“If coach Feis had had his firearm in school that day, I believe that he could have most likely stopped the threat,” Haab said.
