The Heller Poll: Wait, could Trump actually win this thing?

May 10, 2016 by Andrew Heller 38 Comments

trump pixelsCould Donald Trump actually win? I know many people scoff at the idea, but in a country that’s so evenly split between Republican and Democrat, could The Donald do a whole lot better than some think he can – maybe even win this thing? (Hey, no one expected him to win the nomination either, right?)

You tell me in this week’s poll. Please explain your vote in the comments section. — Andy

There’s a lot of Bernie supporters who will not “vote blue no matter who” and many, many who just do not trust Hillary. I am one of them.

Blue is Democrat Jennifer. Don’t you mean the Bernie supporters would not vote Red? I also DO NOT trust Hillary and would NEVER vote for her.

but the question is would you trust trump more?????

thats like saying i have some splinters – they hurt – i have no tweezers and can’t get them out – i’ll just chop off the finger

Bernie would be horrified by this – I have seen him address this exact question and his answer even while in the heat of battle with Hillary was Hillary is 100 times better than anyone on the other side (this was before Trump had clinched it) My guess he would say 1000 times now.

I dont like her much either – and wish the same thing would happen like Obama before – but no way Trump is an alternative

Of course, strange things happen in politics. W won twice( actually once according to popular vote), both times running against candidates who were more qualified. I think Trump will try to “swift boat” Hillary.

I sure hope he wins! I’m looking forward to my country being what it used to be. It is very scary to think what Hillary or Bernie could continue to do. As I have said before on here, it is way past time we stopped thinking as Republicans or Democrats and thought as Americans.

I am not a Trump supporter, but I do believe the events of the past year have shown that he certainly does have a chance – jerk or no jerk. It’s amazing to listen to people I’ve known for more than 20 years sing his praises about not being a politician, being a good businessman, blah, blah. They either really believe what they are saying or some kind of invasion of the body snatchers occurred when I wasn’t paying attention. Ugh!!!

Kind of depends. We don’t know for sure what the actual election will look like yet. He could under some conditions, and I have come to the conclusion that as a country we possibly deserve that outcome. Don’t believe he will stop being what he is, after for his fans that is the draw. It will come down to how many of us care about the country and not our personal agendas.

A year ago I, and many others would have said no way but now he is the nominee which seemed impossible until recently. He is certainly the most unqualified and scariest candidate we have ever seen. His followers do not seem to be dropping off even after he makes every effort to chase them away. The thought of him being in charge for four years, even with the counterbalance of the congress just makes me cringe. Thinking Americans need to get out and vote against him no matter how much they dislike Hillary or Bernie. Sitting this one out is not an option.

Many people, including me are less than enamored with Hillary but she would at least maintain the constitution and the American ideals.

Although he’s an economic rapist, misogynistic, blindly nihilistic and perversely blunt, he may indeed win. In some way people think he’ll win something back for them. He doesn’t care about them or you or me. Or the country.

It seems both parties are trying to push us into a ONE WORLD government turning our beloved America into some third world crap hole. I WILL NOT EVER vote for Hillary so come on Mr Trump, make America Great AGAIN.

With a selection like that pair, I just feel like jumping in my car, and running on down to my local china-mart and buy a big bottle of asprin. Speaking of headaches, off the subject a little, Enbridge Line 5 OIL SPILL 1980 U.S. Forest Service officials awaiting results from groundwater monitoring wells to help determine environmental damage caused by an oil spill in the Upper Peninsula in 1980, which they say they were unaware of untill 2012. The spill took place in Delta County west of the Fishdam River. ” Given the time lapse and the fact that the spill occurred under an old permit, we want to make an infomed decisionto protect the resource. As more information comes available, we will take further action,” Forest Service officals said in a statement. For you people who do not know, this area belongs to the Hiawatha National Forest, 1980 you spill oil into the environment and as Enbridge knows the rules, they do what? I am one of those who laughed when he announced his candidacy. I thought “how stupid does he think American voters are?” Well, we have found out that many Americans like a xenophobic, misogynistic, lying racist. Apparently he mirrors their feelings and there are a lot of stupid voters!
While I have been an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter since Elizabeth Warren announced that she would NOT be a candidate I will vote for Hillary if I must.

I never thought he could win the GOP nomination, but he did. Still I do not think he can win the general election without Hispanics, women, Muslims and everyone else he’s alienated. I get a good laugh every time he tries to woo the women. He’s soooo clueless on that subject.

He couldn’t win the nomination but he did…traditional politicians discount his followers as under educated old white men…maybe if they had listened to the silent majority and campaigned to their concerns, he would not have won but they just stuck to their broken records of either tax the wealthy and give it to whom they consider needy or keep trying that trickle down nonsense and keep lining the pockets of the few..
Politics and governing as usual has to go…Trump speaks to that anger….hopefully it is not too late for their actually to be someone to vote for in Nobember…is there a knight on a white horse out there willing to run for the good of the country and not the good of his and his buddies pockets?

Not a Donald or Hillary fan- Donald just openly disrespects people while Hillary gives the political BS and does what she wants anyway, which to me is still disrespect.
Little things mean a lot… Bill’s first candidacy, she’s Hillary Clinton; Bill’s elected, now she’s Hillary Rodham Clinton. Hillary starts running for office, now she’s Hillary Clinton again…

Please vote for her over Trump. She already knows how the world actually works, in the US government and internationally. Trump just says stuff that he makes up.

There are a lot of lies told ABOUT Hillary which result in people in not liking her. There are a lot of lies told BY Donald Trump but that doesn’t seem to matter to those who like him. The truth of both is out there but people are too lazy too look and would rather be spoon fed their opinions. God help us all.

Donald can win against Hillary because she represents the political establishment that has ruined this country the last 20 years. We need to get rid of the anonymous big money system. I’d love to see Bernie vs. Donald for that reason, but Bernie’s getting jobbed by Democratic (Hillary) establishment. Doesn’t really matter what the winner does (except for the nuclear option) as long as we get rid of Citizens United, the money, the safe districts and let the people decide.
