Photographer Steve Jessmore’s incredible look at the ‘Celebrating Life Pow Wow’ at CMU

March 20, 2016 by Andrew Heller 15 Comments

Steve Jessmore of Mt. Pleasant, who has been my buddy and colleague for 30 years now, is flat-out one of the best news photogs in the country. (That’s not just me saying that, btw – he’s won the  Robert F. Kennedy photojournalism award for outstanding coverage of the disadvantaged and is a five-time Michigan Press Photographer Association Photographer of the Year.)

Steve Jessmore headshotSteve turned his lens this week to the 27th annual Celebrating Life Pow Wow at Central Michigan University.   The colorful celebration runs through 5 p.m. tonight at McGuirk Arena. You can view more photos here.

I’m hoping to convince Steve to post more of his outstanding work here on the website. Please lavish praise upon him in the comments section so he agrees.  — andy

As an RAA (Rank A**ed Amateur) photographer for over half a century I have learned to hate anyone with real talent. Thank you for giving me one more person to hate.
