Auchtoon Time: The future is now, unfortunately

December 11, 2017 by John Auchter 20 Comments

Toon & text by John Auchter

Credit where credit is due. The punchline came from a friend. We were talking over lunch trying to reconcile the events of the past week: The Republican/Trump tax bill, the Alabama Senate race, travel-ban decisions, North Korean missiles, the Mueller investigation, and so on.

There is just so much to process, so much to, well, not to sound old, but growing up we just never would have anticipated this level craziness.

For example, it’s bad enough that the Senate rammed through a huge national tax bill with no time provided for actually reading it; that it included handwritten notes directly from lobbyists; that it purposely adds to the national debt at a time of near full employment. But it’s the doublespeak and the pious assurances of our so-called leaders (with absolutely no real evidence) that is so unsettling.

I said to my friend, “We seem to be heading toward a dystopian future.” He said, “This is a dystopian future!” Then we laughed. I’m not sure why.

We’ve all read Brave New World and 1984. We’ve all seen The Matrix and Hunger Games movies. As with most science fiction, these stories are cautionary tales — they are beginning to feel more like documentaries.

John Auchter draws cartoons. Lots and lots of them. You can find them at his incredibly popular website auchtoon.com. You can also find his stuff on Michigan Public Radio’s website under Opinion.

Who is really trying to consolidate power into where the government has all the power is in the hands of the swamp people in D.D.?
Neither party can claim the higher moral ground.
Democrats and republicans point fingers at each other and say that the other party is responsible for all the woes that we have.
Democrat voters talk and walk whatever the party elites tell them to do. Democrats voters never question what the party elites tell them.
    Democrats:
A bunch of RICH LIBERALS convincing POOR PEOPLE to vote for RICH LIBERALS by telling POOR PEOPLE that other RICH PEOPLE are keeping POOR PEOPLE POOR.
As I have said in previous posts President Trump was not my first choice to voter for. But, as usual the republicans formed a circular firing squads and shot each other down. IF it had been another republican that won the primaries and the nomination and had won the 2016 election the democrats would have still found something wrong with the candidate. Even if they had to dream it up and then lie and distort and push it as truthful gospel.

      Jim 3:
      1. Better a rich liberal than a rich neo-nazi, or a rich liar, or a rich psychopath.

      2. You actually had a reasonably clever idea in this post, despite your inexcusable refusal to check for typos.

      3. I could stand to read all the way through what you wrote here, for the first time in many months of your rants.

      4. But, you still appear to be a deluded person who barely ever thinks for himself.

If you can’t make an argument without getting personal and calling a person deluded, then stop responding already!
You don’t make a very good case for yourself when you have to resort to that.

Deluded? Are you serious? Anyone who supports Trump, like JimIII does, supports the name caller in chief. But “deluded”? Please……

You need to understand that a rich liberal has no real use for the common person.
To then we are all serfs/slaves/peons. Far too many rich liberals are of the opinion that they are the only ones with enough intelligence to control their lives.
As for the rest of us lower class peons, the rich liberals think they need to control our lives and direct us on how we are to live.
Yes, this does include you tom, fred, andrew and john auchter. You think because you have a lot of ideas that are in line with their views/ideas that you are some sort of a protected class. You are not.
Is it just rich liberals? NO! Far too many of those who claim to be republicans are also in cahoots with the rich liberal elites.
By the time a lot of people will come to the conclusion that elitists are the enemy of the average person it will be too late.
There is more that I could add, but it will await another time.

President Donald Tirebiter will provide all Americans with Shoes For Industry AND Shoes For The Dead! And, as soon as free hands on both sides of The Big Ditch can push The Button at the same time, we all will be free to suffer and die without health care of any kind!

Meanwhile another jihad terrorist who came into the USA under the Obama administration set off a bomb trying to murder innocent civilians in New York City. His family was “OUTRAGED” that their home was searched and that law enforcement interviewed members of their family for more information on the bomber. No doubt they have retained Democrat lawyers who will sue the US taxpayers for some perceived issue of offense on their part.

John Auchter cries about tax cuts for working Americans while Islamic terrorists try to murder all of we “infidels”. Still waiting for an article from John boy about the dangers of terrorists brought into our country under Obama.

Hey John Auchter – My 401k sure has kicked serious butt since President Trump’s inauguration. Why aren’t liberal “journalists” writing stories about that? My 401k is up over 32% from inauguration day until now. Wouldn’t you say that is a good thing? Why do you liberals avoid that topic?

Why are you dreaming? When George W was in office you lost fifty percent of your 401. Under Obama you got that back and was one the plus side when he left. Trump had nothing to do with that. Your 401 is probably up around 10 percent. 32 percent is laughable at best. Another delusional republican belief. Hang on to it because when they pass their wonderful tax bill and add trillions of dollars to the national debt it will disappear.

Remember, what goes up will come down and without you even having a hunch. The stock market is controlled by the rich who can make or break our economy and love getting the working mans money in the market so they can take it. Nothing that trump has done has had a direct effect on the market. This was all in the tank before trump. The rich are using the market to get their way on tax cuts and other regulations to their liking, and for that we get an increased debt.

Exactly. Wasn’t it the republicans that complained about how high the national debt was when Obama was in office? Because they are going to pad their own wallets it fine.

      Sorry you are wrong again…..

My 401k saw the following annual growth rates.

8 years under Bush: 7.4% (not good)
8 years under Obama: 7.5% (not good)
1 year under Trump: 32.1% (awesome)

I will take President Trump and pro growth economic policy every day of the week. As a middle class guy, I am looking at retiring very well off with continued growth even half what we have seen over the last two are months.

Haha. Do you really expect people to believe that? Average growth since trump took office is 9.6 percent, so about 2 percent over the last two administrations. Under Obama you likely seen about a sixty percent increase. Let’s see what you have after four years. Your 32 percent is in your dreams. Virtually impossible.

“No such a thing” as aggressive growth mutual funds in your mind. Your ignorance is laughable. Aggressive growth mutual funds are one of the most popular investment options for long term. You enjoy your stupidity and I will enjoy my growing 401k funds.

Maybe your hate can keep you warm over Christmas. Lol
