Auchtoons: Uh-oh, it’s a cartoon about Planned Parenthood and measles

April 22, 2019 by John Auchter 11 Comments

By John Auchter

In his sci-fi/satire book series, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams tells a story about the planet Golgafrigcham. The leaders of Golgafrigcham hatched a plan to rid themselves of what they considered the basically useless citizens. They announced that Golgafrigcham was doomed, and so three arks were to be built and all inhabitants sorted into three categories: Ark A would contain the leaders, scientists, and other high achievers. Ark C would carry all the people who made things and did things. And Ark B would carry everyone else, such as telephone sanitizers, public relations executives, and management consultants.

When the time came, Ark B was sent off with a mission to find another planet to colonize and with the promise that the other two arks would follow. Of course everybody else simply stayed and enjoyed happy lives — for a very brief time till a virulent disease contracted from a dirty telephone wiped them all out.

This is the story that came to mind when I read about the Muskegon County Board of Commissioners meeting this week and their decision to terminate the lease for the Planned Parenthood clinic in their county building. Right. The mere mention of Planned Parenthood can make things go sideways quickly, so I’m gonna state only my specific reaction: The beginning of a significant measles outbreak may not be the best time to be cutting back on public health resources. And perhaps digging deeper into our ideology may not yield the best results.

Feel free to discuss the details of all this among yourselves. I’m gonna go wipe down my iPhone with alcohol.

John Auchter draws cartoons. Lots and lots of them. You can find them at his incredibly popular website auchtoon.com. You can also find his stuff on Michigan Public Radio’s website under Opinion.

What has cutting Planned Parenthood got to do with the measles outbreak? Are you at all concerned about the thousands of people being set loose in this country from across the border who may not be immunized for anything?
There was a time way back when a person came into this country legally and had to pass a certain level of health before being admitted in.
It seems you are more intent on condemning people who don’t agree with Planned Parenthood than you are in addressing other important issues that are putting our country at risk.

Hey Fred, go look up the sayings and mindset Margaret Sanger. The 1920’s founder of planned parent hood. She was a liberal/democrat. Her reasons for founding planned parenthood can be found with a little research. However, the modern day democrats/liberals/socialists really, really try to hide the truth about her racist views.
Having said that, I am quite positive that you and a whole lot democrats/socialists/liberals will go into denial about her views.

You’re spot on ann b. A measles outbreak has nothing to do with Planned Parenthood, but Auchter, like most liberals, will cry wolf or scream about the sky falling in false equivalence matters. The leftists are a cabal of emotions rather than logic. Speaking of logic or lack thereof, Freddie, this blog’s village idiot, claims something went over your head. No connection made, no salient point established, yet YOU didn’t get it? His lack of self awareness is truly embarrassing, but it’s dime-dancing entertainment. I suspect nobody ever learned a thing from this clown, people refused to listen to his babble and ignored him, and this site is his drug of choice in social pariah escapism. What’s going over HIS head isn’t escapism, but the double down on inanity.

And Brad also completely misses the point. You trump fans are a little slow aren’t you?

    Sigh…

Each of you, could you please logically, and with reputable citations, dispute the points that you find the authors so worthy of disparagement?

Calling the author of something a liberal or a conservative, or a Demoncrat or a Repugnicant, or whatever little phrase you find clever does nothing to prove your point or refute the others.

Seriously, please grow up and meet the responsibility of improving the world rather that playing rhetorical internet forum games. The rest of us are waiting.

And if you want, you can amuse yourself and others with pointing out my obvious inadequacies as a proofreader.

On that front, you’ll always emerge victorious.

    Fred,
We President Trump supporters are not slow. The only way we are slow is in your mind and the other democrats/liberal/socialists.
In a earlier post I challenged you to go look up the words of Margaret Sanders on why she started Planned Parenthood. Apparently you have not done so. Nor do I think that you would dare to do so.
She started Planned Parenthood to control the rate of growth of those who did not meet her standards.
That meant that she considered those that did not meet her racist standards as inferior. She had the same views as those in Germany who had the mistaken belief that they were the master race. All others who did not meet their standards had to be done away with.
I do not think that you have you the mental courage to actually see what her views on the human race.
As for the sudden appearance of the measles outbreak and the fact that the United States was declared measles free sometime in 2000.
Then the democrats scream for open borders and to allow anyone into this nation without proper screening. From countries that do not have the vaccine standards that we have in America.
Too many of them that show up on the southern border have no vaccination records or no idea if they had even had any kind of vaccination.

Huh? jimiii, I stopped reading your shit a long time ago and I stopped reading this one after the first sentence. I have no idea what you said and I don’t care. I know it was stupid and irrelevant to any comment I made. Life is too short to waste time trying to decipher your nonsense.

And yet the 600+ measles outbreak has been shown to have come from people returning from Israel, and I believe Ukraine if I recall… None from below the southern border. This is not a point that has been at all hidden or contested, so I presume you’ve seen it since you appear well informed.

What’s wrong Fred, are you afraid of the truth? Only a closed minded bigot would not research Margaret Sanger.
So the only response that you can make is an insult about my postings.
You act more and more like those in 1930’s Germany .
